Botulinum toxin gives the face a calm and relaxed appearance, the facial features are less drawn. Botulinum toxin is mainly used for wrinkles caused by facial expressions. These include frown lines and crow's feet. Fillers or hyaluronic acid are suitable for treating deep wrinkles (e.g. nasolabial folds) or small wrinkles that have already appeared (e.g. lip wrinkles, cheek wrinkles).
What is botulinum toxin?
Botulinum toxin is a drug made from a natural bacterial protein. Botulinum toxin has been used in ophthalmology and neurology for over 25 years. It has also been used in cosmetic medicine for many years. Botulinum toxin is most commonly used as a medication for expression lines such as frown lines or excessive sweating under the arms. Please inform us before injecting botulinum toxin if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medications such as anticoagulants or antibiotics, or if you suffer from nerve or muscle disorders.
Der Eingriff
For your comfort, you will be given an anaesthetic cream for the area to be injected. The botulinum toxin injection is then performed in a room suitable for this treatment, where cleanliness and aseptic conditions must prevail. The injection sites are drawn on the cleaned and disinfected skin. The botulinum toxin is precisely injected into the muscle by Dr. med. Yann Favre with a very fine injection needle. Only approved and guaranteed products are used in Bellefontaine. The treatment lasts 10 to 30 minutes. Small pink and swollen areas appear at the injection sites, which disappear after 15 minutes.
Nach dem Eingriff
Afterwards, you can immediately return to your work or daily activities. Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas after the treatment. You should also avoid sports and make-up for 24 hours after the injection. If necessary, a check-up with an additional injection will be offered 15 days after the treatment. The effect of the treatment begins 2 to 5 days after the injection and lasts for a maximum of 15 days after the injection. The more the molecule is used, the less it needs to be used, so the frequency of injections decreases over time.
